What is a handheld sewing machine used for?

I have a whole nursery to get done in three weeks and I thought I would have time to get everything done by hand, but that was about 5 months ago. The rest of the time I’ve been sleeping, now I’m nesting.

I have a lot to do! Can you tell me what it can be used for?

I think it will do only the crudest of sewing (using a straight stitch), but it’s fiddly, not quick, and mostly just a “gadget” to make money for the manufacturer.

If you don’t have a cheap sewing machine, or access to one owned by a friend/relative, you’d probably be better off to just use Stich Witchery (one brand of “fusible webbing” that comes in strip form on a roll) to bond the hems, etc… or use a “fabric glue.”
If you use fusible webbing and you have any areas that will be *stressed a lot,* you could reinforce them here and there with a few stitches or velcro/snaps, etc.
